About Us
Wild-Traverse is powered by two Cape Town originals: Matt, the wild adventurer who can patch up a pair of shoes with a Leatherman and some cable ties—just as easily as he can get his Peugeot across Africa in pursuit of the perfect wave. Then there’s Jono, powered by flat whites, long trail runs, and the sheer joy of flying down a river. Oh, and if you spot someone in a pink bucket hat, it’s probably him.
Why We Started
Wild-Traverse was born out of frustration—Matt needed a rain jacket that wouldn’t leave him drenched in sweat, actually kept him dry, and didn’t cost a fortune. So, he took matters into his own hands—literally. He sourced top-tier materials, taught himself to sew, mastered pattern-making, ironed on seam tape, and crafted a prototype that even passed UTD inspection.
From there, we grew organically, making jackets for friends and early supporters, gathering feedback from fellow adventurers, and fine-tuning our designs. Matt is constantly experimenting with new ideas, testing them in the wild, and pushing the limits of what’s possible. We can’t wait to bring more of those innovations to you soon.
Our focus? Designing high-performance gear built for big days in the mountains—whether you’re running, fastpacking, traversing, packrafting, or hiking. 🚀
Where we create
All products are designed by us and rigorously tested by ourselves and our outdoor community as we explore all parts of South Africa and abroad. What’s more, we’re committed to making all our products in SA, helping to provide fair employment as well as direct and easy access to repair facilities for our customers. Unlike other brands that design in SA and produce elsewhere, we believe that by being able to design and create products locally we can iterate quicker and produce high-quality gear that lasts.
